For over
two months the Chadron High School one act team has been hard at
work in preparation for district one act competition in Valentine
on Friday December 1st. Under
the direction of Jill and Uati Paopao, the team will be presenting
"Stuart Little" by Joseph Robinette, based on the story by E.B.
White. The cast and crew will be competing against seven
other schools, with the winner advancing to state competition in
Kearney next week.
"Stuart
Little" is the delightful children's story of a mouse living with a
family of humans in New York City. Stuart finds himself in
many humorous and adventurous situations that only he can find a
way out of.
One act play
competition is a Nebraska School Activities Association
event. The competition requires each school across the state
to select any type of play that can not be any longer than 30
minutes and must have at least five characters. They must
then create a set, costumes, makeup, sound, lighting, etc., all of
which must be able to travel with them for
competition.
The cast
performed for the schools on Friday November 17th and
held a public presentation on Tuesday November
21st. This year's cast and crew are: Taylor
Callahan, Melissa Manternach, Andrea Franklin, Allison Blunt, Heidi
Swanke, Mike Overstreet, Clarissa Dickson, Steffan Lehman, Susannah
Walgren, Olen King, Ryann Bird, Jordan Broberg, Lauren White, Matt
Black, Megan Kizer, Karyssa Stein, Kathleen Gustafson, Scott Young,
Alicia Encinas, Mike Adler, Cody Cox, and Brett
Schremmer.
