Attendance Center Transfer Request

by Sherlock Hirning
March 22, 2007

March  19, 2007

Parent/Guardian,

Enclosed is a "Student Transfer Request" form to be completed by families who had a child attending school outside their designated attendance area in 2006-07, and/or, for new requesting families for the 2007-08 school year.

If you wish to request that the Chadron School Administration approve, for the 2007-08 school year, continuation of your child to attend the attendance center to which he/she transferred during the 2006-07 school term, please complete the form and return it to the Office of the Superintendent at 602 East 10th Street, by April 1, 2007. If you do not wish for your child to continue attending at the center approved for 2006-07 please complete the form and mark the "discontinue attendance" box, in which case, your child will be expected to attend at the center located within your attendance area.

All applications received by April 1 will receive equal consideration as per district policies.  Applications received after that date will be reviewed on a case by case basis and in the order they are received.

This form is applicable to residents of the City of Chadron who wish to attend any of the rural attendance centers - Alpha, Trunk Butte, Whitney, or Prairie Home.  The same form is applicable to residents of any of the rural attendance areas who wish to attend a rural attendance center outside their designated attendance area.   It also applies to residents within the original Chadron City School District who wish to attend Kenwood if their designated attendance center is East Ward or wish to attend East Ward if their designated attendance center is Kenwood.

Attendance areas for 2007-08 have been established as the same attendance area boundaries as existed for the 2006-07 school term for the Rural Schools and Chadron City Schools.  If you are unsure of your designated attendance area, please call any of the attendance centers for assistance, or the Office of the Superintendent at 432-0700.

If you reside on property which is not part of the Chadron School District and you wish for your child to attend school at one of the Chadron attendance centers, then you must submit an "Option Enrollment" application to your resident school board for consideration.

Sincerely,

Dr. Sherlock Hirning, Supt.

Chadron Public Schools

Included below is a copy of the Transfer Request Application for your review.  If you are interested in submitting a transfer request, please stop at the office of the superintendent to pick up a form or at any of the elementary administrative offices.
