On Tuesday, March
4th the speech team went to Districts in
Gothenburg. With high hopes from the coaches, each person
competed in either one or two events. It was an extremely
long day. Rounds started at 1:00 p.m. and didn't end till
around 7:30 p.m.
Chadron didn't do too badly when awards were
called. Laine Branson, a freshman, did very well for his
first time competing at districts. Although he didn't make it
to state, he broke into finals and placed 6th in
entertainment. Tara Ledbetter and Hanna Raymer's duet came
close to going to state. They placed 4th and only
the top three pairs advance to state. Hanna Raymer, Kailas
Ledbetter, Megan Kizer, Kiya Stack, and Sara Smith made it to state
in the varsity OID by placing an exciting 3rd.
They will be going to state in Kearney on March 17th and
will compete on the 18th.
This speech season has been an exciting one and all did well in
their events.
