The results
from the CMS 7th grade students who took the ACT
assessment were received in Mrs. Smith’s office last week.
Congratulations are in order for the all the students who took the
ACT as their scores fell in the 17 to 28 range for the composite
score. Out of thirteen students who qualified to take the
ACT, seven students chose to take the test in December. Out
of those seven, there were three students who scored above 21 to
receive State Recognition and one student scored above 28 to
receive Grand Recognition.
These scores
were based on the English, Math, Reading, and Science ACT
scores. A student qualifying for State Recognition is in the
top 30% of the Talent Search pool, and a student qualifying for
Grand Recognition is in the top 2%. This is an impressive
achievement because the pool itself is highly selective and the
scores are ones that many high school students aspire to
achieve.
The students
who should be recognized for scoring 15 or higher on their ACT
composite score are Cy Rayhill, Michayla Prante-Ballue, Larissa
Hastings, Abigail McFee, Lane Chasek, Joanna Derosa, and Dillon
Vogt.
The State
Recognition honorees are Dillon Vogt and Lane Chasek. The
Grand Recognition honoree is Abigail McFee.
The Grand
Recognition honoree, Abigail, will be honored at the Grand Ceremony
held at Duke University, Durham, North Carolina on May 19,
2008. Abigail plans to attend with her mother, Rienna Young,
and sister, Lydia. The State Recognition Ceremony will be
held at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln on May 20.
Dillon plans to attend with his parents, Lyndon and Kara
Vogt. Lane will be unable to attend.
All of the
participating students have represented CMS well and we are proud
of these academically talented 7th graders.
