Dental Health Day
by Libby Uhing
Recently Kenwood kids in grades K-3 participated in the “Brushin’ Up Program”. Janelle Hansen (Health Educator) from Panhandle Public Health District visited classes and discussed the importance of cleaning teeth, how often to brush teeth, gave definitions for basic dental terms, reinforced nutritional foods to eat, and reviewed what happens at a dental check-up. The kids were introduced to “Freddy Flossisaurus” who demonstrated proper brushing techniques; and were able to brush their own teeth. Following the presentation children received a coloring packet, sticker, mouth fan, and a new tooth brush. A huge thank you goes out to Janelle Hansen and Chadron Schools’ Nurse Kristi Nelson for organizing the event!
