Parents, heads up!
EW Parents
Just a short note to keep you "In The
loop" - (EW Parent Support
Group meets January 25th at 5:30).
The State of Nebraska has adopted Reading and Math
Standards and we are continuing to review them providing
documentation of when and how often we teach them. We
will also be looking to see if they are being taught
adequately. We will spend two In-service days next
semester with "Standards" work.
Report cards will me mailed home on January 8th. Be
sure to check your Parent Portal to see if your child is missing
any work as the quarter is coming to a close on December
22nd. The East Ward Parent Compact was inadvertently taken out
of the handbook this year so in order to be in compliance with
Title I, we will be mailing an updated compact home with the report
cards. Parents and students are asked to sign the compact and
return it to school. Teachers are asked to sign the
compact and deliver it to the office. We are
hoping for 100% completion. EW Parent Support
Group will review the compact in January and discuss
additional changes for next year.
We have
two changes to our School Calendar in January that you need to be
aware of. The two early outs (previous 1:30) will now be
12:00 dismissals. Boys/Girls Club will have staff on hand to
walk the students to the Parish Center for afternoon
activities.

dismiss all students at 12:00
Based on requests from
parents in the district, staff, and bullying behaviors in our
schools the district will be hosting Trish Kenagy and her
presentation on “Bullying Prevention”. Because of the length
of both presentation we will be dismissing school at
12:00. We
apologize for the change in the schedule and
calendar.
Mrs.
Sarah Wilson will be in the district Jan. 4-8. She is doing a
research project on “Careers”. She will administer a 45
minute survey to all 4th and 7th grade students in the
district. Permission slips and questionnaires will be
send home with the 4th grade students.
Also in the spirit of keeping everyone informed, please be
aware that it is possible that we make up any missed school days
due to bad weather. Last year the High School made up their
time on the Early Out Fridays. We will also try to be
creative if need be! As always keep your radio dial set to
610 AM (KCSR) this winter for any last minute changes due to
weather.
It is a pleasure serving you and your children.
