We hope you are excited about nine days of science fun!  We will meet on the playground at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, June 8th.  Camp will be from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon each day except for the day we travel to Wind Cave.  (Monday, June 8th through Friday, June 12th, and Monday, June 15th through Thursday, June 18th.)
We will meet and dismiss from the flagpole area each day, and we will provide a mid-morning snack each day.  Lunch will not be served; however, we will be having a lunch on the last day at the State Park, and students will bring a sack lunch on the Wind Cave Field Trip.
On Thursday, June 11th, we will be taking a field trip by bus to Wind Cave.  Students will need to be at the school at 7:30 a.m. on this day.  You will need to bring a sack lunch and drink as well as a water bottle for the trip.  Please wear comfortable walking shoes such as tennis shoes.  Students can be picked up at approximately 1:30 p.m. at the school on this day.  If you have provided a cell phone number, I will do a group text to let parents know a more exact time of our arrival back at school.
We have lots of fun learning activities planned.  We will be doing different types of science activities each day as well as integrating a longer engineering activity where we will be building marble tower ramps throughout the camp.  So please save any paper tube type materials or things that might work for this project to bring to camp.  Students will also need to bring an empty Pringles or similar type potato chip can for a solar cooker.
On Thursday, June 18th, we will travel to the State Park for some nature science and will be joined by educators from the Nebraska Game & Parks.  We will have lunch at the park before returning.  Students will still come at 8:00 a.m., and we will return to school by noon.
There will be no one in the office during camp to answer the school phone.  Mrs. Dickey, Mrs. Crile, and I will arrive at the school by 7:50 a.m. and leave shortly after 12:00.  If you need to reach us, you can call or text me at 308-430-2770.  I will also check my e-mail each day.   However, please remember that you may not get an answer right away as we will be busy being scientists!!
