Welcome Back to School 2017-2018Chadron Intermediate SchoolGrades 3-4
We are looking forward to the 2017-2018 school year!  We would like to extend a warm welcome to our new students and their families.  Also,  please welcome the many new faces to our staff this year including Mrs. Shandi Motz from Paxton, Nebraska.  Shandi will be joining our 4th grade team this year.  She recently taught 3rd grade at Todd County Elementary in Mission South Dakota.
New to our building but not to our district is Jolee Nielson who will head our Special Education Department.  Mrs. Nielsen comes to us from Chadron Primary where she has taught for several years.
We have a large number of 3rd grade students (75) and have added para support to help the classroom teachers.  Jessica Flint will fill this duty with a great deal of knowledge as she has recently completed her student teaching and is a certified teacher.  Also assisting in our school are paraprofessionals;  Bailey Owsley, Joan Fournier, Pam Leonard, Genie Singer and Christine Ambrose .  We currently have 61 registered students in fourth grade.
Chadron Intermediate is also a School Wide Title 1 School, which means we are able to use federal dollars to help with additional staffing.  Mrs. Laurie Schmidt has taught small group in Reading, Math, and Language in our building since the reconfiguration in 2012.  With SPED and Title  support we are able to have smaller groups of students in the classrooms.
CIA (Chadron Intermediate-Afterschool Program) will begin on Tuesday, August 22.  Students must be signed up to attend.  CIA runs Monday thru Thursday from 3:05-5:30, unless posted otherwise.
We look forward to seeing all parents and students during our Meet and Greet on Tuesday, August 15 from 5:00-6:00pm.  Students may bring their classroom supplies on this night or the next day.
Chadron Public Schools will be participating in the Solar Eclipse Viewing on Monday, August 21.   Intermediate School will be busing students to the High School practice football field to watch the Solar Eclipse along with students from the rest of the district.   The students will eat sack lunches (bring from home or purchase through the lunch program) while at the viewing.   ***  A “Consent and Release” form must be signed by student and parent before the student will be allowed on the bus on the back side there is also a “Opt-Out of Eclipse Viewing” form that can be signed by the parent.   These forms will be included in the student packet on the 1st day of school.
We will also have a Title 1 Meeting on August 15th in the Library at 5:45.
