Change for Changing

Change for Changing Lives-Chadron Community HospitalLast year’s Change for Changing Lives drive was a huge success (we raised $590 for local cancer patients thanks to your little warriors) The winning classroom enjoyed the Subway Parties.  We will participate again in November. Chadron Community Hospital will be donating free FLU SHOTS to staff. We will start the drive November 1st  and end the last day in November the 30th .  Change jars bill be brought to each classroom.

Cardinal Block-Moving up the Block!

Cardinal Block students entertained residents at Crestview this week.  The kids enjoyed the experience and some new friendships were made.  Thank you Miss Scheer and Miss Greitens for thinking of our friends at Crestview!

Recycle Bowl

The Keep Chadron Beautiful Recycle Bowl will begin on Monday, October 15th and run through November 15th. KCB will set up recycle bins on the South side of the CIS playground again this year. Please encourage students to put recyclable items in the bin.

Science Fun with Mrs. Swinney

Leaning about density, buoyancy, chemical reaction, states of matter, the water cycle and so much more would not have been the same without the help of our afterschool program coordinator Mrs. Swinney. Thank you so much for coming in and doing some amazing science experiments with us! 

Parent Teacher Conferences Fall 2018

Typically our Fall Conferences are scheduled with the teachers throughout the afternoon/evening. Please be sure to be on time and be aware that there are others meeting right after you. If you need more time to visit with you child's homeroom teacher, please schedule additional time at a later date. We are looking forward to seeing you again and discussing your child's progress.

Bird Banding

A HUGE thanks to the Bird Conservancy of the Rockies for having our class come out to Chadron State Park to see the bird banding station. The students learned SO much and had a wonderful time! I also want to thank the parent volunteers who came out and spent the morning with us!

Maurices Loves Teachers

Cassie from Chadron's Maurices presented CIS with a very nice donation!

The bag of school supplies and the the cash donation are not the first example of the support Maurices has for Chadron Public Schools, we have received several offers and coupons in the recent past as well.  We are very proud of the Chadron Community and all the support it provides. 

Bird Banding!

Last week Mrs. Hoffman class had a great time at Chadron State Park.  We met Amber, Erin, and Chris from The Bird Conservatory of the Rockies.  They explained that they were there to “band” birds in order to study the birds and their migratory patterns.  They showed us the special nets and explained how they worked.  We watched as Chris brought seven birds from his nets and weighed, measured, and recorded info on each bird before he placed a band on their leg and let them go.  Altogether we saw about 20 birds be banded.  We saw 14 different species of birds.  Mrs.

Hoop Hop Showdown

Just when you thought all playground games were spent—kickball, dodgeball, wall ball, —P.E. teachers have created a new one for kids. The new craze is called Hoop Hop Showdown. Hoop Hop Showdown, as it's called according to Eric Branch on Facebook, seems to be a combination of hopscotch and rock, paper, scissors, where you launch two teams into a kind of hula hoop gauntlet, where hopping is the only motion allowed.
