Great teachers help create great students. In fact, research shows that an inspiring and informed teacher is the most important school-related factor influencing student achievement. This semester we are please to have Miss Aileen Ramirez student teaching with us in the Physical Education Department. Miss Ramirez is a native of Fresno California and is completing her K-12 Physical Education and Health degree at Chadron State College.

Culminating a study of traditions and manners, students celebrated with a candlelit party using tea sets, and cloth napkins. Desserts and tea sandwiches were served. Parents were the servers and provided the food. This has been a tradition in 3rd grade for around fifteen years! Toasts were made by the students and fun was had by all!

Skyping with the Shark Girl
Skyping with the Shark GirlOn Wednesday we got to have our first Skype experience this year. The entire fourth grade joined together in our classroom to meet with Jillian (http://www.shark-girl.blogspot.com/) who is a marine biologist. The students were so incredibly excited to get a chance to talk to her and were intent listeners through the whole thing.
Echoes of an
Echoes of an Era Paul Siebert, an author and musician, visited our school today. He told us the story of his grandpa's journey from Russia to Nebraska through the use of music. He talked about the Nebraska state flag. This was such a great experience for the fourth graders because they study the history of Nebraska throughout the year. A Hammer dulcimer, guitar, and banjo were some of the musical instruments Mr. Siebert played during the presentation.
