Change to CMS Wrestling Schedule (November 5th Meet)
Chadron Middle School wrestlers will not go to the meet in Valentine on November 5th. Instead, they will attend the meet in Scottsbluff on November 5th. The change in schedule is due to Valentine's State Football Playoff game.
CMS Celebrate Red Ribbon Week Oct. 31st-November 4th
Chadron Middle School will celebrate Red Ribbon Week during the week of October 31st. The national campaign started in 1988 in response to the 1985 murder of DEA agent Enrique Camarnea. Parents and youth across the country started to wear red ribbons as a way to raise awareness of the murder and to protest the destruction that drug use causes in America. Red Ribbon Week continues in schools and communities across America as a visible commitment to live a safe, healthy and drug free life.
CMS Slam Dunks Recycling
On October 10th, Jacki Dailey from Keep Chadron Beautiful and the Chadron State College Men's Basketball Team, helped kickoff the 3rd annual Recycle Bowl at an all school assembly in the CMS gym. Ms. Dailey explained the Recycle Bowl and informed students of the different kinds of items that can be recycled during the program. Items included plastic, cardboard, paper and aluminum cans. The Chadron State Eagles Men's basketball slam dunked recyclable items and did a great job of getting the kids fired up for the Recycle Bowl.
CMS Students Post Outstanding Assessment Scores
Chadron Middle School is pleased to announce the highest NeSA test scores that we have ever posted. In addition to outstanding NeSA scores, 95% of CMS students met their MAPS growth goals in reading. Our AdvancED goal is to have 100% of students meet proficiency on the NeSA Reading test and/or meet growth goals on MAPS. As you can see, we are off to great start!
CMS Parent-Teacher Conferences
Parents,
Just a reminder that CMS Parent-Teacher Conferences are this Thursday, September 15th from 2-8 PM in the CMS Gym. CMS, and only CMS, will have a 1:30 dismissal on that day.
THANK YOU PARENTS
Thank you to all of the families that attend the CMS Open House on 8/23. We had a great turnout and we hope that everyone had awesome conversations with their student's teachers. If you have any questions about classes, expectations, homework, or school in general, please don't hesitate to contact us.
Stuff The Bus
THANK YOU!!!!
CMS would like to thank the United Way, Chadrad, and everyone who helped gather school supplies for the 2016 'Stuff-The-Bus' campaign. Students will make great use of the backpacks and other school supplies that were donated.

Parent Tech Training
As Chadron Middle School's online presence grows and more information is communicated through digital means, there is a growing need to train parents on how to access and use new technology. To this end, Chadron Middle School will host a Parent Technology Training on August 23rd at 6:30 in the CMS library. The date coincides with our Back to School Open House. Topics will include:
CMS Awarded one-year Expanded Learning Opportunity (ELO) Grant
Chadron Middle School was awarded a one-year, $10,000 ELO grant from the State of Nebraska. The grant will supplement the existing 21st Century After School Program grant at CMS. The grant award will be used to expand learning opportunities for High Ability Learners in the CMS After School Program as well as provide leadership opportunities for these students who participate in the after school program.
A special thank you to Lorna Eliason, Sarah Tayor, and all of our community partners for their work and involvement in the ELO grant.
Immunization and Physical Reminder
Just a reminder that all 7th and 8th grade students must have a current physical on file at the beginning of the school year. Physicals are good for one calendar year. Physical forms can be picked up in the main office.
Important Back to School Information
I hope everyone had a great summer break. Below are a few important dates and links to information for students and parents to be aware of. I've tried to schedule around CHS orientation dates and the Dawes County Fair, so I hope that everyone is able to attend.
