Change to CMS Wrestling Schedule (November 5th Meet)

Chadron Middle School wrestlers will not go to the meet in Valentine on November 5th.  Instead, they will attend the meet in Scottsbluff on November 5th.  The change in schedule is due to Valentine's State Football Playoff game.

CMS Celebrate Red Ribbon Week Oct. 31st-November 4th

Chadron Middle School will celebrate Red Ribbon Week during the week of October 31st.  The national campaign started in 1988 in response to the 1985 murder of DEA agent Enrique Camarnea.  Parents and youth across the country started to wear red ribbons as a way to raise awareness of the murder and to protest the destruction that drug use causes in America.  Red Ribbon Week continues in schools and communities across America as a visible commitment to live a safe, healthy and drug free life.

CMS Student Council Scores Microwave

CMS Student Council Lunchroom Committee:
Emily, Parker, Gracie and Kolby The Chadron Middle School Student Council Lunchroom Committee just made the microwave line shorter by scoring another microwave for the lunchroom.  A huge thank you goes out to Parker F. and his family for the generous donation.

TEAMMATES 'GO BIG' EVENT

The Chadron chapter of TEAMMATES will host the "GO BIG" Event on November 9th at 6 PM in the CHS Gym.  Former Husker Blackshirt, DeMonie Adams, will be the the special guest speaker. Please check out the flyer below for more information.

CMS Slam Dunks Recycling

On October 10th, Jacki Dailey from Keep Chadron Beautiful and the Chadron State College Men's Basketball Team, helped kickoff the 3rd annual Recycle Bowl at an all school assembly in the CMS gym.  Ms. Dailey explained the Recycle Bowl and informed students of the different kinds of items that can be recycled during the program.  Items included plastic, cardboard, paper and aluminum cans.  The Chadron State Eagles Men's basketball slam dunked recyclable items and did a great job of getting the kids fired up for the Recycle Bowl.

CMS Students Post Outstanding Assessment Scores


Chadron Middle School is pleased to announce the highest NeSA test scores that we have ever posted.  In addition to outstanding NeSA scores, 95% of CMS students met their MAPS growth goals in reading. Our AdvancED goal is to have 100% of students meet proficiency on the NeSA Reading test and/or meet growth goals on MAPS.  As you can see, we are off to great start!

CMS Parent-Teacher Conferences

Just a reminder that CMS Parent-Teacher Conferences are this Thursday, September 15th from 2-8 PM in the CMS Gym. CMS, and only CMS, will have a 1:30 dismissal on that day.

Class of 1966 Donates to CMS Media Center


The Chadron High School Class of 1966 recently gave a generous donation of $1300 to the CMS Media Center.  The donation was made possible through a quilt raffle this took place this summer. The donation will be used for media center Makerspace furniture.

CMS Picture Day - September 8th

Chadron Middle School picture day is on September 8th.  We have contracted with Life Touch again this year and like in years past, you can order pictures online or with the packet that will be sent home with students on Wednesday, August 31st.

Thank you to all of the families that attend the CMS Open House on 8/23.  We had a great turnout and we hope that everyone had awesome conversations with their student's teachers.  If you have any questions about classes, expectations, homework, or school in general, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Stuff The Bus

CMS would like to thank the United Way, Chadrad, and everyone who helped gather school supplies for the 2016 'Stuff-The-Bus' campaign.  Students will make great use of the backpacks and other school supplies that were donated.

Chadron Middle School Bell Schedules

Chadron Middle School will dismiss at 1:30 on August 17th - August 19th.  Below are the bell schedules that correspond with the class schedules students received at the Back to School Meetings. All students will receive another schedule on the first day of school.

Parent Tech Training


As Chadron Middle School's online presence grows and more information is communicated through digital means, there is a growing need to train parents on how to access and use new technology.  To this end, Chadron Middle School will host a Parent Technology Training on August 23rd at 6:30 in the CMS library.  The date coincides with our Back to School Open House.  Topics will include:

CMS Awarded one-year Expanded Learning Opportunity (ELO) Grant

Chadron Middle School was awarded a one-year, $10,000 ELO grant from the State of Nebraska. The grant will supplement the existing 21st Century After School Program grant at CMS.  The grant award will be used to expand learning opportunities for High Ability Learners in the CMS After School Program as well as provide leadership opportunities for these students who participate in the after school program.

A special thank you to Lorna Eliason, Sarah Tayor, and all of our community partners for their work and involvement in the ELO grant.

Immunization and Physical Reminder

Just a reminder that all 7th and 8th grade students must have a current physical on file at the beginning of the school year.  Physicals are good for one calendar year.  Physical forms can be picked up in the main office.
