CMS First Day of School Schedule and School Supply List

Below you will find links to the first day of school schedule and school supply list for Chadron Middle School.  Please note that on the first day of school students will go directly to the gym at 8:00 for an all school assembly.  If they bring school supplies on the first day, they will have to carry them until the assembly is over.  Parents are encouraged to bring their students to the back to school meetings so that students can get their schedules and put supplies in their lockers.

CMS Student/Parent Meetings - Change of Venue

Chadron Middle School's back to school student/parent meetings will take place in the CMS library instead of the gym.  The dates and times of the meetings will remain the same.  Please use the north east entrance and the library is located on the 2nd floor toward the middle of the hallway.

**Students are encouraged to bring their school supplies with them to the back to school meetings. Students will be let into the building after the meeting so that they can put their supplies into their lockers**

National History Day Results

Chadron Middle School was well represented at the National History Day competition in Washington D.C. last week.  Ten students submitted five projects for judging at the national competition and several students left D.C. with more than good memories. 

CMS Summer Science Camp Information

CMS Summer Science Camp
Middle School Summer science Camp will begin on Monday June 1st at 8:00 am and dismiss at 12:00 pm.  ALL students who returned a registration form and paid have been enrolled.  Calls were made to inform all the participants.  More information will be sent home on Monday.  If you have questions please call Kaci Swinney at 308- 430-3701

The Chadron State Women's Choir and the Chadron State Community Chorus hosted a benefit concert on April 26th to support the Chadron Middle School Instrumental Music Program.  Thanks to the the incredible generosity of our amazing community, $579 was raised to help purchase instruments for students.  Several instruments were also donated to the program.

CMS Choir Civil War Tribute

This year marked the 150th anniversary of the end of the Civil War.  On Thursday, April 30th, the Chadron Middle School Choir celebrated with a musical tribute to the men and women who fought and died in that war.  Usually, the 7th and 8th grade choir perform separately from the 6th graders, but last night all three grades performed together.  The performance included severn songs and a recitation of the Gettysburg Address.  Nice job middle schoolers!

CMS Introduces Block Scheduling for the 2015-16 School Year

After many months of research, scheduling, and meetings Chadron Middle School is proud to announce the new block schedule that will go into effect at the beginning of the 2015-16 school year. The schedule features four (4) 84-minute blocks, a 5-minute advisory time during 1st block, a 40-minute lunch, 40-minute music classes, and extended passing times between blocks.  Students will have an 8-minute break in between 1st and 2nd block, during which a grab and go breakfast will be available that they can take to class.

CMS Students Shine at Regional National History Day Competition

Chadron Middle School will represent well at the State National History Day competition this year as 14 students and 7 projects placed at the regional competition today.  Congratulations to the state finalists and to all of the students that participated!

8th Grade Students Practice for NHD Regionals

National History Day Regionals take place tomorrow, February 27th, at Chadron State College. Chadron Middle School has 23 students participating!

Parent Meetings to Discuss A/B Block at CMS


I will be hosting two informational parent meetings to discuss the middle school's proposal to move to an A/B block schedule for the 2015-16 academic year.  The purpose of the meeting is to explain the rationale behind exploring an A/B block schedule, the steps that have been take up to this point, explain how an A/B block schedule works, discuss the pros and cons, and answer any questions that parents may have about it.
